About Me

I qualified as a counsellor initially in 1999 and was awarded a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I wanted to further my training and later took a BA (Hons) in Counselling.

I am also a qualified Social Worker and I have worked in the care industry for 20 years, dealing with individuals and families. I currently have a Certificate in Supervision.

My goal in counselling is to enable and empower people to make an effective and positive change for themselves.

Good Practice

How I work
I invite clients for an initial assessment session to find out more about them and why they feel counselling could be of help to them now. During this session, I ask for more background information and I discuss with them the issue that has brought them to consider counselling as a helpful way forward.

We will then arrange further weekly appointments which will be at the same time and on the same day each week. There will initially be 6 sessions, after which we shall hold a review. We shall then plan further sessions accordingly.

I have supervision on a monthly basis (as recommended by the BACP) with a very experienced supervisor. I discuss my clients by first name only.

I am committed to working in accordance with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy Professional Code of Ethics and Practice.
I am experienced in the following approaches, which are integrated:

  • Psychodynamic Theory
  • Humanistic Theory
  • Cognitive Behavioural Theory

I provide a confidential, safe environment where you can talk freely and openly about your concerns. My training as a counsellor ensures that I am non-judgemental and non-discriminatory at all times.
